Very cool. Have you perfected the detachable midsection for taking it apart? I wonder if the valves and smaller bows that go vertical are solidly braced, or if they are prone to flexing? Has any manufacturer ever done this before? So many questions. Inguiring minds want to know. It makes perfect sense to lower the fat pieces down to the floor, a'la cimbasso. Harv has a nice blog and you can join it!

YES! I like Mr. Marshall's horn because it is designed to play sitting down, and also works for standing up with a short stand.
The small intestines look better braced, too, being less extended up into space.

I made Ken K. Horn. To Played sitting Or Standing up. Sergio likes to Dances & move around alot when he Plays ..Its to person that wants the horn made, here Ken's Horn he like it. Thanks Harv.

bugler I will do what you would like to be Made. But It may be easyer to uses a Front Action valve horn. Not that I cant do it with a top action.But you may want to turn the valve set and all the tubes. Sergios Horn took about 60 hours of work. It was a BBb 4 valve King.We cut it to CC and added all a 5th rotor valve.The 5th valve lever is a Cornet piston in a brass tube that can be taken apart to cleaned and oiled. Take a look at the pictures with Tim in the snow you can see the lever.
Kens horn is silver so no lacquer had to be removed it took about 10 hours to make but We had moved Kens 1st & 3rd valve tubes to be top pulling and we took the bottom bow off and dedented the horn before we made a saxotuba out of it the earlier work took about 10 hours. I like the horn Ken & I made The only thing I would like to do better is the stand. Its a little wiggly when you stand to play it.The other thing about doing work for Ken is he lives about 8 miles from my shop so he can help on his jobs and try the horn as we make it for him. And drink a few Beers with me Here my Jazzytuba it was a 20J I made it just for fun . Its fun to play and when you brake out a horn like this people go crazy Thanks Harv.

Yes, I agree that using a front action horn is better also because it is easier to hold while you are playing. You can support part of it's weight in your hands and you have more control of the instrument. I find that when I have to hold top action horns standing up, the blood from my hands does not circulate in my fingers therfore making it more difficult to play.

Harv can do anything but in terms of playing a front action would be more comfortable.
