U.S. Air Force Band & Singing Sergeants

Post by Matt Walters »

The United States Air Force Band and Singing Sergeants performed at the Hilton in East Brunswick, New Jersey Friday last (Friday25 Feb ’11) night and it was GREAT. Last night’s concert was one of the most balanced and satisfying band/choral concerts I can recall hearing. The choice of music, performance and the blend of the ensemble(s) were to my liking.
Since this is a Tuba / Euphonium forum, I want to send a special thank you to CMSgt Ann Baldwin Hinote, and MSgt Jennifer Dayton Cox on Euphonium, plus CMSgt Jan Duga and MSgt Brian Sands on tuba for perfect professional playing. To my ears, their playing was right and beautiful. Like true professionals they (and everyone else in the band plus Singing Sergeants) were spot on but never excessive.
Besides the great conducting and leadership from Lt. Col Waite, I enjoyed the conducting of 2d Lt Peter Folliard. As early as about 10 years ago Peter impressed me as a High School Euphonium player already playing at the level of a good college student. Now I am even more impressed with his musicianship as I watched him conduct.
I’ll be checking the http://www.usafband.af.mil" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank website more often to catch the next time they are anywhere near.
