Not that it's terribly important, but how tall is Sam Pilafian? Mr. Rogers makes him look tiny.

Also not terribly important, but I'm not sure I believe that tuba weighs more than 30 pounds. I've been wrong before though!

that is is cool! That must be from the early 80's when they played in Empire together. I studied with them at the BU Tanglewood Institute in 1983. Back in the big hair days!!!

Nice little video - thanks for sharing. Particularly interesting with a Bell currently for sale to hear what they sound like.

30 lb does seem a bit heavy for tuba of that size, my guess would be nearer 25 lb, but then how heavy is the detachable bell ring?

Mr. Rogers was reportedly 5'11". I'm 5'10" and Sam Pilafian seemed slightly shorter than me the one time I met him. I'd guess 5'8" or 5'9".

There is more to that video. Fred goes to their rehearsal and meets the rest of the quintet.

Man, Sam sounds great!

Must have been the inspiration for this.
