I'm looking for some trumpet and tuba duets, any suggestions? I tried some search engine looking with little success with any names. So if you guys got any ideas forward, it's for a senior recital.
Thanks,

Re: Trumpet and Tuba Duet
John Stevens has a trpt/tba duet called Dialogues II, which requires C trumpet. Neat work with multiphonics and a whole movement of mostly double tonguing passages passed between the two players. You can buy this from BIM Music. I performed two movements of this at my senior recital.
There's also Baroque N' Brass by Eugene Anderson. It uses Bb trumpet, and it's pretty straight forward Baroque. Range is wide in the trumpet part.
The other one I know about is Capriccio by Lewis J. Buckley. I don't know much about this work because it's pretty new (2010). It also uses Bb trumpet.
Both Baroque N' Brass and Capriccio you can get through Cimarron Music.
If these don't fit the bill, you can always transcribe other instrument/voice duets for you and your trumpet friend.
Good luck on your recital!
*BTW, all three pieces can be played on a BBb or CC tuba.

Re: Trumpet and Tuba Duet
Thanks, I'll give them a look. And in the end I may end up doing the transposing and moving around parts for other duets. Although I was trying to avoid that since I'm doing it with 2 other pieces already, (I like French Horn music and got a lot of Horn friends that let me borrow music, and I try to go the cheap way!) And thanks for telling me the trumpet these work best on, I think my partner in crime only owns a Bb so that will help, and thanks for the BBb CC comment, I'm playing a CC tuba and would to avoid anything for those Eb and F ones!

That is a great duet! The trumpet player I played it with equally enjoyedKayla wrote:There's also Baroque N' Brass by Eugene Anderson.
