When Angels Weep

I just returned from a massed band rehearsal in a town two hours away.. We covered a large amount of music in three hours including "English Folk Song Suite" by Ralph Vaughn Williams and the "Liberty Bell" march by Sousa. A piece that I had played several years ago entitled "When Angels Weep" was also rehearsed. This piece was written in honor of those who died in the 911 disaster. What a beautiful piece of music! Very melodic and includes a really nice tuba part complete with several opportunities for quietly placed pedal notes as well. It was a privilege to play it again and I am looking forward to doing it again at our concert in May.

We performed that last week. It did seem oddly titled, the music doesn't seem to go with the title. I didn't know about the 9/11 connection. But it is a really enjoyable tuba part!

This is a very fine piece of music but it couldn't have been written in memory of 9/11 because it was published in 1997.

Thank you for the correction regarding the date of this piece!
