Okay everyone.....
What we have here is a 1920 Conn Tuba.

We (my son and I) affectionately refer to her as "The Beast". She has a 22" bell.
Been on musictrader.com website to look up the serial Number: (171216) states 1920 for year....
I found lots of images and drawings of old Conns, but not exactly like this one.
What model is this?
The only exact image I found to it was a photo of a silver version in the National Museum in Edinburgh. It has serial # 169899. The fact it is in a museum makes me wonder about it.
It has a great sound, like a fog descending over the room it is played in, it envelops you when you hear it....it also weighs a ton!
Refinished by Harv Hartman in 2006.
