Primary horn is a new 1291 BBb Miraphone. I plan to use the second horn in situations where I may not want to use the new horn such as outdoor concerts, and also use the second horn for quintet playing.
Thanks.

I play a 5J...good quintet horn small bore, smallish 4x4; you won't fill a hall with it. I got it when I passed my 3 score and ten as something I could still lift

I use a 1290 for my primary horn and a 3J for my second horn. Both are CC. The 3J is very similar to the 5J and you can find discussions of this in the archives. The 3J plays very well in tune and is great in a quintet setting (supposedly a copy of Harvey's horn from his NY Brass Quintet days) I have used it occasionally in Bands and Orchestra and Dixie bands and it does OK but it doesn't produce anywhere near as much sound as the 1290. I have found that the pair has worked very well for me over the last 20 years or so. Good luck, Phil
