Canden NJ. High School Marching Band ordered (2) 20K Conns and (2) Kings Sousaphones.I meet a few of the High School Players Before the horns were order.Very Nice Kids, Getting 4 nice Horns ..I finished dents out, buffed, and new Lacquer,

It's a rough place to be a kid. When I was living near there a few years ago I understood only about 10% of the students in that school were seniors (90% dropout rate). Glad those kids are going to have some nice instruments!

If no one dropped out, there would be 25% seniors (and 25% freshmen, 25% sophomores, and 25% juniors). So if 10% were seniors, then that's a 60% dropout rate.

Thanks for correcting my math. I'm no good at it. The point remains that it's a rough place and I'm glad this bit of light is going to shine there.

I have met a few of the Canden's schools Music Dept Teachers. They try hard to keep the students in school and of the street. The Teacher that I have met really make a differs in the Lifes of the students and people. Just by being there and showing a better way of live ,I am Glad to have met and worked with all of them.

Do you ever get tired of buffing those things?

My 60 year old back will not let me stand at the buffer and do a whole sousaphone in one day .So I buff a sousaphone in 3 or 4 days now, dent work, Buffing ,dent work, Buffing, and so on and on, But only one horn at a time... A One person shops can be a tuff place somedays. I Love fixing horns and making old Horns play again... Thanks Harv.
