Hi,

My Christmas wish list includes a digital recording device of some sort, right now I am 'simply' using a mic run through a small audio board into some freeware on my laptop computer, but there is a lot of noise from the computer that gets in the way. I have noticed at master classes people with digital recorders and mics that are much more protable than my unit. My Google searches have been unsuccesful thus far in finding anything but Digital Voice Recorders. What are you guys using for recording, and what would you recomend as a more portable unit for me?

Minidisc is great. With all the new analog to digital technology the old devices work really well too. I have been using a Sony professional walkman (from the 80's) with a normal low impedance analog mike, then playing it onto a program called music cleaning lab. From there you can go to CD. Does anyone know a good solution for minidisc to CD without too many intermediate steps? John

the new hi-MDs can be transferred digitally to pc, then burned to CD using the new sonicstage software. the new hi-MD players are backward compatible to standard MDs.

I'm using the NHF-800 and I'm very happy with it.

Is there something wrong with recording direct to CD? There are portable CD recorders out there. This saves a bunch of steps and eliminates a bunch of distrotion and noise.
