What is the difference of the old Yamaha 642 and the new 642ii?

Tony,
On the 642-II (or Neo), the bell and first branch is made of a thicker gauge metal with a bit different flare of the bell. The lead-pipe has a bit different taper and is made of gold brass. The lead-pipe height is the same as the 642, and higher than where it is on the 842 (which many didn't like). There's a pretty good discussion on Dave Werden's forum
here.

The goal of the "Neo" line of instruments, as I understand it, is to provide instruments with more of a British style sound in order to accommodate to the brass band market.

and a video of the "Neo" euph and tuba being played:

Hi Tony, you heard one week before last when I subbed with the brass band. I did not mention what I was playing, but it was a 642 Neo.
