*I have heard that the question not asked is the only stupid question, so here goes...

Q1. If an American individual was in Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic etc. and he or she visited the factory of one of the great manufacturers of fine tubas, is there a possibility to purchase a tuba straight from the factory at a lower cost than purchasing one here in the States?

Q2. What would be the benefit of visiting one or more of these fine manufacturers while one was in Europe? e.g. would one be able to try out several different models tour the factory etc.?

I am of course not looking for conjecture or speculation, I genuinely want to know if there is some benefit as I may be visiting in the near future and wanted to know if it was a waste of time and so-on-and-so-forth.

If nothing else, it's an interesting and fascinating experience to tour the factory. I led tours through the F. E. Olds factory in Fullerton for four years and learned something new from someone almost every time through!
