Double Talent

Now that I've retired from earning, working for, a living I've gotten involved with doing things that are for fun. I'm playing tuba in a "Community" band and orchestra and organizing a variety of small ensembles to perform in several locations. Playing golf regularly, usually once a week. And am now a "Published" author. For the past 16 years I've been accumulating data and forming a fact based fiction story on a Hawaiian person who in 1920 was tried and convicted of robbing a payroll train on the island of Kauai. Well, perseverance finally brought about publication for CADILLACS, WESTERN MOVIES & SUGAR TRAIN ROBBERY. Now available in print and for Kindle. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_ ... in+robbery" target="_blank" target="_blank
An interesting note about this story is the appearance of a 1904 Conn Tuba. This tuba, originally shipped to Kauai to be used by the Kekaha Sugar Plantation band, now resides in a closet in the Waimea High School band room. It is a little tattered and is missing some valves but is definitely an heirloom.
This May 5 our Kauai Community College Jazz and Wind Ensembles are performing their Spring Concert. I've put together a woodwind quintet to accompany me at this performance on Alec Wilder's EFFIE SUITE arranged for tuba and ww quintet by William Stanton. We'll also feature drawings made by young elementary students which will be projected above us as we play.
If you've got time and money, either come view our performance or check out my historic fiction novel.
