What's it worth?

A friend called me last night and offered me his 1934 Boosey and Hawkes 3+1 compensating euphonium. I'd say it's in good condition, as opposed to excellent. I haven't played it and don't know the condition of the valves.
He said I should figure out what it's worth to me....when pressed he said he had seen one recently go for $800. Is this reasonable? If not, what is? I don't want to rip him off but also don't want to offer more than it's worth. He said included is an original B&H mouthpiece that came with it originally.
And, what would be an "equal" new 3+1 compensator? so I can compare.
MA, who will sell her King 2280 if she buys this one.
