Hello

I'm a Belgian tuba student. This month I will play my masterexam so I have to play two recitals. My program is:

Concerto - Arild Plau
Cappricio - Penderecki
Sonate - Trygve Madsen
Concerto - Vaughan Williams
Suite for horn and tuba - Roger Kellaway
Landscapes - Lundquist

I also have to write a paper about the pieces I play. It's about how my performance improved by doing research and I also have to justify why these pieces are relevant to play. So I don't need biographies of the composers, but information about ways of interpretation, short analyses, .... In short: All types of information that can help me playing a better performance.

If you have ideas for my paper, or you can help me in a way, I would be happy if you give a reaction!

With kind regards

J.

You are playing great rep. My concern is: for a master's level student, you should be doing your own research and showing a high level of independence. Asking people for ideas and help on a forum, while a resource, should not be a major source for your research nor is it independent! Research implies referencing information so that others may consider your sources and come to their own conclusions (which are hopefully similar to yours). When you have done the proper research, you will have a very impressive set of references for others to fact check.

Good luck in your project, and have a great recital!

Hello Ben

Thank you for the reaction and for your concern about my independence. But I can reassure you that that you don't need to. I allready did a lot of reasearch and I my paper is almost finished. I tried to get in touch with some composers, made analyses, I compared the original part of Penderecki with the published one,...
I just posted my question because there's maybe someone with a fresh idea which can make my paper better. In my school am I the only tuba player, and I think it's good to communicate about this subject with other tuba players.

With kind regards

J.

Your original question might be better received if you had specific questions you were asking regarding history, performance practice, interpretation and the like. If you are seeking peer review, then you should offer up your draft to be looked at by your fellow peers so they can comment and make suggestions. Your original question is very vague and does not suggest the amount of thought you have put into your project, nor your progress.

Again, best wishes!
