How difficult would it be to make a travel/practice tuba in F from french horn and baritone parts? The horn is already in F and getting the baritone to F would require about 3 feet of tubing (or there abouts). There are quite a few junker horns and baritones on the bay.

A contratrumpet is a better idea; more compact, higher chance of success, and much cooler. :D

Definitely cooler and more compact, but to get anything similar to Bobo's would require some custom fabrication. The other contra you had was cool but I think it was closer to a baritone than a trumpet. Still, it's hard to beat a contra trumpet in the wow factor :D
