Anyone else hear about this? I have it on good authority that they are no longer with Yamaha. Any idea what kind of Conn horn Mr. Daellenbach will play?

The 56J is awfully similar to the old Getzen Canadian Brass horn (same bell, bore, etc). Maybe he'll get them to bring that horn back into production. . . It would be great to have another professional level American-made horn in the market! With Conn and Kanstul, maybe we can get back to the glory days. . . Does Conn Selmer own Holton (the Harvey Phillips model?)? :tuba:

Andy Smith, got any insider scoop you can share here?

Hey gang,

We're working on a new tuba for Chuck. I cannot give any details away yet as to what we are working on, as it's way too soon. We are all excited to see this great ensemble playing on all of our American-made instruments. It's a fantastic partnership with one of the greatest ensembles in the world.

Contrary to what you believe, there are 700 USA-based employees that work for this company building many of our great products. We import products from China, but only in the student market and we do so for price points, not for any other reason. We are 100% committed to manufacturing in the US. I wouldn't work for this company otherwise.

BUT! Are they making them here in the USA or have they moved all production to China as they theatened to a few years back?
In this case, wouldn't it be more likely to move production to Canada?

Since Chuck has a history of playing tubas that are movement friendly, can you fill us in on whether this tuba will be a 3/4 (ie Yamaha 621 like) or 4/4???

I am becoming a fan of the so-called "7/8" sized contrabass for small ensemble use.

CB just posted a picture on their facebook page outside the factory. For the moment anyway, it looks like a 56J.

Why would Chuck play a BBb tuba? He has played CC ever since the group recorded their first CD and made their first US tour. He ain't gonna toss out all that memorized music and start over. If it is a King (BBb), it was just a horn he was holding. It isn't the horn C/S is building for him.

The laquered horn he's standing with is a King Bb. The one he's playing in the action shots looks to me like the shrimp Yamaha he's been using. When they came to the Rat (Disney) to do a clinic for the college program they did it in our rehearsal room and I ran into them in the cafeteria before their presentation. Great guys. They invited me to eat with them and are a really nice hang. Chuck was interested in a York Master Model Bb that I had in that day so I left it in the room they were doing their class in. I had to awnser a phone call in our locker room(pre cell phone) and when I returned he was playing it with the group. He didn't even blink at the tranposition and the horn sounded alot fuller than the Yamaha. Maybe he's holding the King Bb because it's all they currently have in production( other than the Conn 5J) but he could certainly play it without losing anything until they build him a C. The guy can play and sound great on anything. Ed

Agree on the King 2341. The bell looks too wide for a 621 in the action shot. Im probably wrong but it looks like a different tuba.

I'm positive that's a King 2341 that he's holding outside in the picture, but I'm sure he's just holding it for publicity.

Hi again everyone,

Chuck is holding a 2341 in that picture. We are just right now working on getting some promotional material for us to use. Chuck, myself, an Engineer from Eastlake, and a a few marketing folks are meeting to talk tuba project tomorrow. To be honest, we have no clue what this will turn into, as we're still in the development stage. I will let you know more as soon as we figure it out.

It is an honor to be involved in this process!
