Most tubist would want to play in Mahler symphonies. The fewest succeed, but still most like the music. The link for this video came from one of the horn lists. I am watching it right now. I was aware about brass related music being part of Mahler’s musical roots, After all I saw Bernstein’s TV features many decades ago. This video brings samples to my ears. My only immediate protest was about a pistons trumpet in one of the reenactment bands, but that was a minor matter.

The 1st symphony tuba solo enters at around 33 minutes into the video. I am don’t know the San Francisco Symphony tubist, only the solo horn Bob Ward.

There is a short view of a wooden figurine band. I thought I saw a bell front tuba, but it must have been a helicon.

There appears being a local coding of what appears on ones screen. I don’t see that said ad, and my reasons for presenting this link were purely musical. OK, maybe there also came a bit of motivation from history and musicology.

As for local coding, a certain Williston TubeNetter wondered, why I asked a Memphis related question. Why didn’t I just google it? Screenshots revealed that what a certain search delivered for Williston and for Korsør screens respectively had very little overlap, if any at all.
