Hey,
I am looking at buying a Yamaha YCB-822 or a Meinl Weston 2155 tuba. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on these models? Thanks.

The MW 2155 is amazing! I'm not much of a Yamaha person. If your willing to spend over $10,000, the MW 2000 is the same as the 2155 but handmade and plays a million times better. But the the 2155 already plays well.

Good Luck!

I judged the Kansas Intercollegiate Band seating audition recently and heard a few tubists with YCB-822 tubas. All sounded great. None had a 2155 for comparison. However I have played both horns extensively. Personally, I prefer playing the 2155, but I have no doubt that the Yamahas would be a good choice for a lot of people.

Because of exchange rates and a host of other issues, the Yamaha is not a good value right now. I think the horns are pretty nice, but I just couldn't justify buying a Yamaha that goes for about the same price as a Hirshbrunner of MW 2000.

Hey! i have a great 2155 for sale!

hey,

I have a great 2155 i have been trying to sell. It is silver, it is in really good shape, has 5 valves, and comes with flight case and gig bag. I am asking 7200$ for the tuba with cases. This is an excellent instument that you should definately consider. I have pics available on request too :)

Thanks
