GRBIC-USA Line serial numbers

I'm awaiting arrival of a GRBIC-USA Line BBb tuba. I believe it is a stencil of a York 33 BBb horn from the 1920s-30s.
Does anybody know where I can find serial number information on the Grand Rapids Band Instrument Co. - USA Line? I read that these serial numbers are not in line with the York serial numbers (which I hear aren't really accurate either).
Also, I want to know if anybody has taken one of these horns and replaced the valve section with a front valve set. I'd like to do that in the near future...
