I took an old Conn 38K Sousaphone in lieu of money owed to me thinking I could donate it to my school and have it PC'd for a couple of hundred (2 yrs ago). After the repair guys worked on cleaning it for a while they discovered that it would need the valve section replaced due to exposure for it to play properly. I just closeted it because of cost. After reading about 38Ks I would like to see if anyone would be interested in buying it. I don't really know what would be a fair price. I would appreciate any knowledge imparted my way about this dilemma. It needs a good cleaning and polishing. Most of the silver looks to be there. No large dents. It does not appear to be abused except for being left out in the weather.

The valves will work anyway. Just take any one-ounce or so bottle of valve oil, add a couple of drops of pharmaceutical grade mineral oil to it, and it will seal up nicely without slowing down the valves.
