Silent Brass Module

Hi everyone. I'm trying to get into some electronics, and think that the way I want to mike my horn is to use a Yamaha Silent Brass system and run the output through a pedal board and ultimately an amp. I was lucky enough to get the tuba mute, but now need to find a control Module.
The three listed by Yamaha are the ST5 (original type module, has some effects built in), the SX6 (which has inputs for up to 6 different players), and the ST9 (the only one that isn't discontinued, smaller and lighter than the others, but not really effects built in).
Has anyone had experience with these different models and can tell me which is better? I don't really need this unit for silent brassiness. Does one sound better than the others, or will they all "get me there"?
Also, if anyone has an extra of these laying around that they'd be willing to let go, pm me
