Interesting story- thank you! It makes me wonder about WHAT we could do that we DON'T, for whatever reason.

This was linked in one of the comments underneath the Radiolab bit, about how ragtime has always attracted unusual performers. The short on the homepage doesn't show that much though-

It is amazing for sure. What is also amazing is that a whole segment of the population has virtually no interaction with music. The physical and emotional reactions that most musicians and many non-musicians experience while listening or playing music are not fully understood yet, much less this guy. He is off the charts! I am currently in a debate with a non-reactor who simply cannot understand why our church members are so violently opposed to changing the style of music in worship. It's a trivial matter to him because he doesn't feel anything physically or emotionally from any kind of music. He thinks we are all crazy. There is a large group of members who are affected by one kind of music and cannot fully participate in worship with something else. Endorphins? I think I'll start another thread instead of hijacking this one.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.
