The writer hooks up with the class of 1994 to see what they are doing 10 years later. Several have music careers and several don't. The article spends a lot of time discussing how aspiring to become a professional musician does not always turn out the same way an 18 year old college freshman invisions.

I think there are several of us on this BBS who have the music degree but not the music career, for various reasons.

Hey, Rick
You could create an alternate yahoo or hotmail address and use it for things such as these. I have several that I use in addition to my regular email, to cut down on the spam factor. Those boxes often get 100 junk emails for every 1 in my legitimate mailbox. NYT puts out a lot of great stuff and it would be a shame to mss it. FWIW, I do not seem to receive spam from them.

Ditto. I've been a member of NYTOnline for ... must be close to 10 years now, and I believe, recent journalistic integrity lapses notwithstanding, they've been outstanding at protecting my email. They themselves certainly never send anything unsolicited.

As far as those yahoo accounts are concerned, I opened one of those suckers to use as a contact email when selling a car. The next morning, before I had a chance to give the email address to a SOUL, I had at least 50 spam emails!
