I'm looking for a new tuba mouthpiece pouch. In the past I've had a terrific Dolly Bag product (they seem to be off the web) and a padded Reunion Blues pouch that was good.

I can't find new one which has my three favorite features

1) zipper
2) padding
3) velcro strap

Anybody got a suggestion about a pouch that fits these requirements?

Small camera case

I have a Cavellero pouch and am quite satisfied with it. It is fleece-lined, has a zipper, has "belt loops" on the back. They aren't velcro though. I have the 2 compartment version which very nicely in the mouthpiece compartment of my Soundwear gig bag. Here's a link to a WWBW:

Thanks, Pete, I'll look around and see if I can find the double case. The four section monster is too much for me.

I like the added velcro when it's on a flap over the pouch on the inside. That way you unzip the case and un-velcro the flap. It's "stupid protection" which I cannot get enough of.

Mike Milnariks is very protective- well put together, but no zipper ...

A really like the Milnarik pouches, I can't see how a zipper would make them any better

I need that zipper and the 'stupid protection' but thanks for the point to Mike's website, looks interesting.

I can't find anyone who sells a Cavellero single or double pouch. Anyone with a lead on my original needs.

G&W Pouch? But only velcro. . I have not tried Milnarik, so i wouldn't know how it fares. .

Ranking in order of pouches i've used:
Crumpler's 'Thirsty al' in size of xs. Velcro, keeps the mouthpiece but exposes the rim.
Compact camera pouch i found. Zipper, but does lack the paddings.
Greg Black mouthpiece pouch(Single). Velcro. Excellent paddings at first, but will give way over time at the rim area(at both sides of the pouch)
Cavallaro Mpc roll for 2 . Zipper. Not too bad i suppose, decent 'fluff' in the pouch. But like Cktuba pointed out, the rims of the 2 mouthpieces will collide and make contact, but i use a piece of Lens cleaning cloth(for sunglasses and such) and it did the job of keeping them from direct impact(I also use it to polish and dry my mpc after washing.)
G&W mpc pouch. Velcro. Very very padded. I like it. serves as a 'crown' for my fav mouthpiece of the day/week. But sadly does not have pouch for 2 mpcs.

Would love to try Milnarik's but it's hard to sought out in my country. .

If you really want both zipper and velcro, the best bet would be to cut and sew them onto the pouch yourself.

Apparently the primo mouthpiece pouch is no longer being made. I could not find a two pocket Cavallaro so I ordered a G&W pouch because it looked like an okay pouch. Nothing else looked any better.

I still have two mouthpiece cases from Rocky Mountain Caseworks. They are by far the best mouthpiece cases I have ever owned. Unfortunately, Rocky Mountain Caseworks has disappeared.

I absolutely agree. I haven't found anything better.

Dillon Music ended up with the name/rights when the company shut down but does't seem to have ever done much with it. However, Monette cases use that design and will sell them for about $30.

Hey Tom, is there anyway for a picture of the Rocky mountain mpc case as well as the Monette's? How can i get my hands on them? I just checked out Monette's site and couldn't find anything about mpc cases (Or did i overlook it? )

That links to a double trumpet mouthpiece pouch. I've got a single mouthpiece tuba version, but other than that, these are identical.

It's made out of a carved out piece of foam-rubber and the outside is a cordura fabric. The inside foam can be pulled out and cleaned. The lid velcros on and has little elastic straps to snap it closed. There is (at least on mine) a swivel clip on the back to hook it to a gig bag.

I use spectacle cases (uvex)

Another vote for the Mike Milnarik double mouthpiece case,
the velcro holds very well, and there is lots of padding.

Left to Right: Pro Tec; Dolly Bag, Dollar Store camera lens case.

I carry mouthpieces in my nylon junk bag, so I'm not concerned with clanking or thin padding.

The only pouch with belt loops is the Dollar Store camera lens case.

The Pro Tec has a very secure magnetic snap.

The Dolly Bag is a work of art, but has no belt loops. Mine was handmade by an employee of Dolly and promptly shipped many years ago following an auction site purchase. I believe that Dolly's operation is now defunct with no communications to existing potential customers.
