Does anyone have a copy of the wind band tuba/bass part for The Wizard of Oz with tuba solo in "If I only had a brain" that they could email me?
I have just found it is in programme for gig I have next weekend and would rather not be sight reading a solo.
Thanks!
Jonathan

I've played two different versions of this in orchestras. In one version the arranger used dotted-eighth and sixteenth notes. In the other the arranger used quarter-eighth triplets.
Sorry, I don't have the parts.

This year in my college's marching band, we are performing a Wicked/Wizard of Oz show. We have a sousaphone-piccolo feature during this particular song. Probably not exactly the same, but still fun nonetheless.

Don't worry, it's not that hard of a solo. But make sure the conductor doesn't take it too slow. Every time I've played it the conductor goes slow thinking he/she's being nice to the tuba players. The solo sounds boring when it is too slow!

I know the version we did in community band had a mistake on one of the runs in the solo.

Yes, I played it yesterday. An F had been corrected to a D. The conductor pointed out to me in advance.Tubaryan12 wrote:I know the version we did in community band had a mistake on one of the runs in the solo.
It is quite a nice solo!

I found it during the sight read at the 1st rehearsal. Ouch when the wrong note is playedNeptune wrote:Yes, I played it yesterday. An F had been corrected to a D.
