Glad you finally found a King 'Jumbo'.

Many of those old Kings are amazing horns. Love the signature 'King' one piece bell, valve caps and buttons

AWESOME!
As you know, I've been out of the country for a few weeks and just now caught up on this.
Someday I'll have a jumbo....some day...

that was a very fun day. I wish I had enough time to go to jas's shop while I'm up at renton on tuesday... But I agree with your statement Ian, your sousas are one of the few things that make me look like a small individual.

It looks to me like the Conn Jumbo has larger bell throat - is that so?

From the article: "The normal tuba sound would be swallowed up in the curtains and ceiling in most halls, so the recording bell allowed the sound to be pushed directly forward."
Exactly. I have a semi-annual gig that is on a stage with massive set backdrops and curtains, and my recording bell is the only way I can play the gig.
