Decent Solo Rep

Greetings low-brass amigos

This is my first post so go easy

I have recently come back to tuba playing and am looking to expand my limited solo rep. I have spent a couple of months rebuilding my chops and working on the standard pieces from my local music shop (Vaughan Williams and Gregson Concertos, Hindemith Sonata, Gordon Jacob Tuba Suite, Capuzzi Andante & Rondo, Kopprasch Studies, Orch Excerpts books, etc) but would really like to get some ideas for new pieces which are on the same sort of technical level.

Deeply regretting the fact that I gave away my whole tuba music library to a friend when he purchased my Yamaha 15 years ago.

All the best
A

If you haven't played Lebedev's Konzert (concerto in one mvmt.) do check it out. Try to find the original Hoffmeister edition though, as the new one kinda sucks

Many thanks

I have had a look at most of them on YouTube and there is some really interesting stuff to get stuck into. I particularly like the Stevens, the Handel and the Lebedev. It also reminded me of a few things I had forgotten about (Malcolm Arnold Fantasy, etc). In the meantime any suggestions greatfully received...

All best

I like the Phillip Sparke Tuba Concerto, also the John Williams if you are looking for an added challenge!

For some new recital pieces, try Six-Pack by James Meador for unaccompanied tuba and Apocalyptic Voices for tuba and piano, also by James Meador. ;)

You totally read my mind.

I bought the Sparke Concerto yesterday along with some Handel transcriptions. What an awesome piece. Also definitely interested in "six-pack" after watching a great video of Tim Buzbee rocking it out.
