New Jazz Tuba CD

Hello,

I want to let you all know about a jazz tuba CD that I just released called "Life Is Good." You can read about it and listen to two of the tracks at www.pkorecords.com.

My brother Jon plays Hammond B-3 organ on the album, and there is also guitar (Tim Cummiskey) and drums (Dave Weinstock). I play tuba as the lead instrument. Many of the tunes are originals, and there are also some standards such as "Mood Indigo" by Ellington and "Wave" by Jobim, as well as my jazz arrangement of the Gigue from Bach's 5th Cello Suite. The music is mostly straight-ahead jazz; there is also some boogie-woogie and down-home blues (I play piano on these two tracks).

If you've never heard jazz tuba with jazz organ before, it's a great combination!

CDs can be purchased from www.pkorecords.com or directly from me (send a check for $17 to: Kent Eshelman, 7510 Maxtown Rd., Westerville, OH 43082)

Thanks!
Kent Eshelman

Arnold,

Thanks for your interest. I used two Yamaha F tubas: an 822 for Mood Indigo and Wave, and a 621 for the six other tuba tracks. The 621 is the horn on the cover. (As you can see, it got a nice suntan on the beach...actually, the previous owner took the lacquer off.)

Hope you enjoy the CD!

Kent

[quote="Greg"]The sound clips on the web site sound really good. I will be sending you an order for a cd as well. I like the combination of tuba and hammond B-3. Nice job!

Thanks! I should mention that the sound quality of the actual CD is much better than that of the website samples. But they do give you an idea of what the music's like.
