I'm trying to get quotes to ship a tuba to Hawaii from the Georgia and I can't get a straight answer. Has anyone ever dealt with this before and have any pointers?

Shipping tubas and euphoniums over seas can often be a hassle. I use SEKO Worldwide. I typically email my contacts the particulars of the shipment (i.e. container dimensions, weight and insurance) and they get back to me with a price quote. Its not real hard but such shipments can be costly no matter how one goes about it. I have a Besson euphonium to ship to Asia that with the insurance would run a tad over 450.00. I have shipped a few tubas to Hawaii recently, we shipped them via Fed-Ex. Its cheaper to ship off the island then it is to ship to it. The last that tuba we returned was a MW BBb at a cost of around $500. It was sent in a slightly cut-down U-Haul wardrobe box (new) with lots of (starch) packing peanuts, the kind that dissolve on contact with water. Not sure if any of this is of help. Just throwing in my 2ยข, Good luck with your task.

Call a company called DHX - Dependable Hawaii Express. They offer air and ocean shipping and local delivery in HI for a great price.

Best,
