Thanks to Joe Sellmansberger and Mark Houghton for a great recital last night at the University of Texas at Arlington. Joe and Mark both did outstanding work on two standards of the tuba and horn repertoire (Vaughan Williams Tuba Concerto and Strauss Horn Concerto respectively) and closed the recital with a great performance of the Alec Wilder Suite for Tuba and Horn. I have to mention the fantastic accompanying of Steve Harlos. I've never heard a pianist play all the notes in the Vaughan Williams reduction until last night.

Warning: Shamless Plug Alert!

Mark will be playing the Strauss again with the FWSO November 18-20. Also on the program is The Chairman Dances by John Adams and the Rachmaninoff Second Symphony.

Bravo to all!

These two men are the last to work on my instruments. I wish I lived close enough to hear the concert.

Eric,
You are probably confusing Dennis Houghton (a free-lance horn player who works on brass instruments, and specializes in working on horns) with Mark Houghton, his son, who is Principal Horn in the Fort Worth Symphony.
Joe, you caught it before I could make the correction. Yes, it was Mark's father, Dennis, who worked on my Miraphone. I turned 40 this year and the memory slips occasionally!
