UPS just dropped off a blue P-Bone from Osmun Music this afternoon... My 4 year old daughter REALLY liked it (as long as I'm not playing it). She thinks it's hers...might end up that way.

Both inner slide tubes fell off after about 2 minutes, so I took the opportunity to use the Swedish miter saw and shorten the second slide by 5/16" (it was sticking in the bell section, and being difficult with the press-fit of the bell to slide) and reglue them REALLY well into the top handgrip section. We'll see tomorrow how durable the fix is.

Actual slide action was smoother than 75% of Fairfax County Public School slides I've felt... Brass stockings seem to work fine with the composite outer tubes.

I also drilled out the mouthpiece backbore to 1/4" (freehand, didn't bother with the lathe). It was kind of stuffy below an F in the staff. Lovely singing sound above the staff and into alto territory... (Schumann 3 was nice)

All in all, not bad for $150, if you don't mind tinkering...
