I'be only used Trombotine on the trombones I've had. What's a good/thicker slide lube for older trombones?

Slide-o-mix would probably be a good option for you because you can dose the mixture yourself...

Although some people may be adverse to using it, you might want to try Pledge. It works on my old Holton bassbone that has seen better days but still serves its function as backup horn.

I can't imagine why trombontine wouldn't work. I use it exclusively on a '57 and a '65 Olds. If there is a problem with the slide, send it to these guys. http://www.slidedr.com/" target="_blank No one else touches my slides, period. They have a deal where they send you a wooden box for you to ship your slide back to them. The last time I was in their shop they had slides from pros all over the world in there.

Cold cream and a water filled spray bottle.

It is probably best to leave those places alone (not polishing them) and let the articulation of those spots (with the inside of the outside slide tubes) wear directionally. Directional wear will reduce the amount of grabbing.

I do not know which lubricant is best for a worn slide, and the only definition of "worn" that I personally understand is one where chrome is worn away from the inside slide tubes.
There is zero chrome left. But it is a little grabby.

Nope :( I thought "York makes great sounding tubas, so there trombones must be the same!"

 Wrong.
