Does anybody know what F tuba was used to make his G tuba? I'm guessing a Miraphone 180 but the picture is a little small.

The story element about the tuba starting out sharp because German bands being tuned a semitone sharp hardly is true. The reform from high pitch to present A=440Hz was carried out shortly after WWI, in 1920 according to my memory. As the central European countries were very poor after WWI, bands could not afford scrapping their existing instruments. So the industry came up with pigtails and all sorts of main tuning slide add-ons to get the pitch down.

Miraphone by its history never was part of that reform, as the company wasn’t founded until after WWII.

The OP’s question needs no explanation as don’t any tuba related questions that are not involving elements of crime. And in this specific matter other TN members making their living from playing tuba are working on similarly pitched projects. Their approaches are different from that of the Bobo G tuba as are they different from each other. Further approaches may very well be imaginable. Isn’t TN here to debate such matters?
