I am looking for some talented tubists and euphonists to start studying at the University of Puget Sound in the fall. http://www.pugetsound.edu" target="_blank

We have a serious musical environment in the heart of a premier liberal arts college. It is my personal feeling that we have a combination that makes us very unique in the west: a national liberal arts school with an accomplished music faculty with extensive academic and performance backgrounds. I feel that we have a great environment for both non-music majors and music majors and minors. Recent alumni (“non-majors”) of my studio are pursuing studies in Law School and Dental School. The University has much to offer! On the musical front, our students have earned recognition in Regional and National Competitions. Many of our alumni are successful band directors. Our tuba alumni have successful performing careers and hold University positions.

If you are interested in a music education degree, not only are you assured of a great education, but of having the opportunity to earn a Masters degree (Master of the Arts in Teaching or “MAT”) and to be teacher certified in only five years. (At many schools, in my opinion, it is hard to finish a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education in five years.) Our small class size makes it much easier to get the courses you need when you need them.

While our campus is beautiful and full of old growth trees, we are located very near Interstate-5. A variety of performance venues in a number of cities are nearby. Puget Sound has the feel of an isolated campus in the forest while being in the heart of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. I feel this makes us very unique when compared to other National liberal arts colleges with music programs. There are numerous opportunities to perform: http://www.pugetsound.edu/academics/dep ... ensembles/" target="_blank .

I am interested in any serious student of the euphonium or tuba. While our admission standards are high, I am willing to assist any qualified “low brasser” with the admissions process.

If you are interested, I encourage you to write to music.admission@pugetsound.edu" target="_blank . This will enable us to get the information you need to make a more informed decision about what we have to offer.

I've heard some of Ryan Schultz's UPS students play. They're very good! And what's more, all of his Music Ed. tuba/euph grads are working. UPS is a very fine private, liberal arts college. Yes, it's expensive. But there are some very substantial scholarships available. Check it out!

"Bump!"

Last year one of my Puget Sound students won the NW ITEA solo euphonium competition.

Kiplinger's Personal Finance lists Puget Sound among the top 100 liberal arts colleges for affordability and education in 2014!

Happy Holidays, "tubenetters." I'm headed off to the PNB pit for Nutcracker starting tomorrow.

My studio is getting older and the time is ripe for some new members. I feel like joining an established studio, with some really talented upper class musicians, is an excellent opportunity. There is an extraordinary opportunity for a serious, talented tuba player in 2015-16. Please, take a look:

It's that time of year, again. John Rojak worked with us last year, this year, Steven Mead is visiting. Don't miss out!!!
