don't know if this has already been asked or discussed. Because of certain constraints, I am interested in lessons over the internet . . . is anyone doing this? has the technology been advanced enough to make it feasible? One guy I asked said the sound quality would not be good enough. Just curious about other's experience with this.

If geography is making this plan (too far to go to the teacher you want), I recommend learning from a wind player with long teaching experience. A person who teaches the fundamentals of music as their main activity will transcend enough of the tuba specific issues to make it a better deal than a webcam. Teaching an embouchure could be done for you at a clinic perhaps. It is worth a road trip for an embouchure demonstration. Aside from the embouchure, the music itself is the main material in the lesson. Good musicians can help without playing tuba.
If geography prohibits any teacher, you have to make do I suppose, but a webcam arrangement will be a bit like talking on the phone instead of seeing the person. That is to say, not equal to a real visit.
