The new 188's come with the bar lever.
My 188 is old, so it's got the usual paddle on it. I had the bar on my former 1291, and liked it enough that I ordered the parts from Miraphone to convert my 188 to the bar style. It was about 6 months ago I received the parts, and of course, I haven't gotten around to getting it installed yet. I definitely will at some point, but haven't been in a big rush.
