Wow. 56 minutes, but worth every minute of it. I currently play in six bands in a small town, and it makes me grateful for every opportunity and for the unusual concentration of musical opportunities I have available.

Indeed! I currently play in 2 community bands (although the definition of Community is stretched a bit) and am also involved with the new alternative street bands (Honk!) movement that has taken the idea to new directions in the last decade.

The historical aspect of the documentary is pretty good - missing a few important details, but great to have anything on the topic presented!

Thanks Dan for sharing this. Worth the time for sure.

I see the trombones didn't get much respect even as far back as the Civil War when Gen. Wm. Sherman told the band (marching in front of the troops) to... "Play loud and keep on playing. Never mind if a bullet goes through a trombone — or even a trombonist now and then." There are also the standard jokes about trumpet players near the end.
