Without looking askance at TubeNet non-advertisers for the sake of this inquiry, what tubas of interest are expected to be on display at 2011 Midwest? Perhaps exhibitors can contribute to this thread.

I understand that Miraphone won't have the Siegfried BBb Kaiser tuba at Midwest because they've hit the right formula with the prototype, have disassembled it to build tooling to make production models that are expected to be available shortly after the first of the year. But there is a rumor about a Miraphone York-type 6/4 CC prototype. Is this a piston CC? Will the prototype be at Midwest?

Although very limited inventory available for sale now exists in North America, apparently Yamaha will still not have the YCB-826S YamaYork on display.

My understanding is that Kanstul won't be showing at Midwest at all.

My guess is that there will be a plethora of new Chinese tuba models.

What tubas and related merchandise and service WILL be on display at Midwest?

I would be interested to learn people's impressions about the Miraphone 181/281/381 tubas side-by-side... if that's possible!

About Yamaha NOT showing the YCB-826...That's probably a good idea. Those are (at least the last time I checked) $35,000 dollar instruments that are hand built to order. They would have more luck displaying YBB-641's as that is most likely to be what a band director is going to purchase.

I don't think there will be a plethora of Chinese tuba models.

You WILL have Miraphone, Meinl-Weston, Tuba Exchange, Besson (although I don't know if they will bring Tubas...), Yamaha, Conn-Selmer and I think Richard Barth will have some new Tubas at Midwest...

The 6/4 Seigfried may make an appearance at Midwest depending on US Customs.
The 6/4 CC might not be ready as it is still in the development stage.

Another reason to not bring the $35K+ horn: I watched a young man DROP a MW travel tuba to the ground and damage it. Kids, be careful.

The Kanstul Company will not be exhibiting at the Midwest Conference in Chicago this year, but exhibited instead at the US Open Brass Band Championships in St. Charles, IL (Western suburbs) about a month ago.

If you would like for Kanstul to exhibit in Chicago in the future, just send an e-mail to Kanstul and let them know. Right now, I'm hopeful that Kanstul will have a Grand CC and Grand BBb ready for me take to the Washington, DC show in January.
