The Bay Brass CD "Sound the Bells!" has received a GRAMMY nomination for "Best Small Ensemble Performance!" It features premiere recordings of recent American works for brass by John Williams, Michael Tilson Thomas, Morten Lauridsen, Bruce Broughton, Kevin Puts and Scott Hiltzik. Recorded in 5.1 Surround Sound at Skywalker Ranch, it is available both as a hybrid SACD disc and as a download.
Please visit our website http://www.baybrass.org" target="_blank" target="_blank to hear clips and to learn more about the CD. It is available for purchase on Amazon and iTunes. Also, follow us on Facebook.

We would love to have the support of any tuba players on this list who are voting members of NARAS. How great would it be to see a brass recording win a GRAMMY!

Congratulations!

Coincidentally, my brass choir is performing Morton Lauridsen's O Magnum Mysterium, whose brass transcription from the choral original is dedicated to the Bay Brass. As a tenor, I've sung the original several times in performance; as a tubist, providing that low Eb is quite satisfying.

I really like the Magnum Mysterium, nice work!

Aside: The thing that's KILLIN' me right now is that I haven't heard that piece in a few years now, and I totally forgot about it. I love that piece! AND, I have another recording of it *somewhere* at home, and have no clue who played it either.

Anyway, nice album. I hope you win!

I haven't heard this new recording but will plan to get it asap. If you haven't heard their "A Brass and Organ Christmas" cd it is gorgeous. The version of Silent Night with the alphorns in the mix is just cool!!
