Done some research on the horn, and Im interested I don't live any where near where I can try one. One of my biggest questions about the horn is the set up, I am 6'6 and I had to stop playing a 188 I have because the lead pipe was way too low and I had to slouch to play it. I was wondering if any one has tried this that is similar size to me has played this that is close to my size. Just looking for some info before I even think of a trip down to Baltimore.

I'm 6'3", and I've played this horn a couple of times. The lead pipe is raised up, and I've never had to slouch to play the horn. It's very adjustable in the lap, and you shouldn't have any problems playing it. Hope this helps!

Moving of the leadpipe is one of the EASIEST customizing jobs available. If you find an instrument you really like, any competent repair dude can make this easy mod.

I'm 6'10" with a very mild overbite and not the longest torso in the world (don't play sousa or work construction kids!). I don't recall the 2250's I've played to be uncomfortable for tall people and most horns ARE uncomfortable for me; usually in the valve angle. The amount of main tuning slide room seems a bit odd compared to the open wrap and not super straight leadpipe. Whatever, I ain't buying one.

Oddly enough I play a 187 with no real problems other than wishing for a slightly different receiver angle. See the first sentence above. A rotary Miraphone would be pretty easy to get any receiver height you want.
Have you tried a Miraphone 1281? Those things rock! A little off center to hold but so much fun to play.

Don't you play with a stand? Would you reccommend that for a taller player?

I play with a stand when I use my contrabass because the position of the lead pipe is a little too high for me actually. With my bass tuba, I don't need it because the lead pipe naturally comes right to my mouth when I set it in the lap. If the lead pipe were a little lower on my contrabass tuba, I would probably get rid of the stand altogether.
