Just for fun, another AMAZING Bach recording by Benjamin Pierce. How do I get my Firebird to sound like that

The Fletcher recording is available here : http://www.johnfletcher-tuba.co.uk/thecd.html" target="_blank

Everyone should have it. There really was nobody else like him for pure musicianship and phrasing.

Very impressive performance by Ben Pierce that you linked to. Sorry I missed it live. For a different perspective on the same piece, check out Adi Hershko on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liqxqYsfYvU" target="_blank . Some mighty impressive circular breathing there...

Fletcher, Pierce, Pokorny, how could you go wrong??? Amazing performances all!

I certainly won't put myslef in THAT company, but here is a recording of one of the mvts from the E maj flute sonata BWV 1035. I think it translates pretty well on tuba, but I don't hear it played much.

There is a ton of great playing right in this one thread!
I am envious of the generation coming up now with immediate access to this kind of playing via the internet. it was much harder to find a few years ago, and even in a conservatory, you had to work hard to find good examples like these!
