Important Army Workshop Information

Hi everyone!
Just a couple of things to let everyone know about for this year's Army Workshop.
1) It is now a Workshop. Conferences were so 2011.
2) If you have a Smartphone, consider getting a barcode scanner app - there are several decent free ones for both iOS and Android. Due to budget constraints, there will be no printed program for the whole conference. There will be individual programs printed for the evening programs, and a single page flyer for the workshop schedule. All of the individual event programs and biographies are on our web site and there will be QR Codes posted in the lobby linking to the different event programs.

Scan Me
3) As with previous years, all of the events from the Minor Studio will be broadcast with audio only, and all of the events in the Loboda (aka Major) Studio will be broadcast with audio and video. Both the audio and video are Flash player and non-Flash player (iOS) friendly. There will also be a mobile bandwidth video stream.
I hope everyone has a great time. Looks like the weather will cooperate this year!

If I'm not mistaken SFC Bratten is likely to take offense at the use of "sir" to an NCO. Of course, he may choose to just let it go.

Is Caryl Conger accompanying any soloists this time?

Yes, she is collaborating with multiple artists this year, including myself and Toby Furr. We are performing on the Falcone Competition Winner's Recital Friday at 1:30pm. I hope you'll tune in to the live webcast!

That's what I wanted to know. I'll do it. I had hoped to get there, but that won't be happening.
(I'm quite sure I was the first tuba soloist she ever accompanied. She was my girlfriend's stepmother in high school, and she helped me in the solo and ensemble competition in about 1981 or '82. She's a sweet person. I hope you enjoy working with her!)

It has been my experience that they check the driver of every car's ID but not any of the passengers. Also, they will look in your engine compartment, glove box, center console, etc. but will ignore the giant tuba/euphonium cases in the back...

According to Ft. Myer regulation, juveniles accompanied by a parent or guardian do not need to show an ID.

Hope this isn't too far off the topic but...
...just heard the West Point Tuba Quartet tonight at Temple University. Wow...tremendous players. They'll be at the Workshop. If you haven't heard them yet, don't miss their performance especially the Ligiti Seven Bagatelles.

Are the video/audio feeds available after the events for those who are unable to watch/listen during the live broadcasts?

Probably not, at least not any time soon.

Anyone else having trouble listening/watching TUSABTEC this year?
I've tried several times without any luck. I even installed the latest Quicktime player (now on ver. 7).

I tried the alternate audio feed using Window's Media player (ver. 10) and no luck there either. On the Quicktime it looks like it's going to play, then I get "disconnected" displayed. On the Media Player I get "server not found then: "rtmpt://143.69.241.45:80/live".
What is interesting though is about an hour ago I was able to get audio on my iPad... but who wants to listen to music on that tiny speaker.
Thanks.

I haven't had any problems with listening other than missing some of the stuff I wanted to because of other obligations.

This year's video uses Flash Player. I suggest installing it and unchecking any preferences in QuickTime that use QT player to handle Flash content.

Oops...!
Well, it would help if I wasn't trying to view video from the 2011 conference. Never noticed the date being Jan, 2011. I guess I was using an old link. Sheesh!
Below is a link that works in case anyone else has trouble. It has the schedule and all you have to do is click on the video (or audio) link and it should play.
