I am attempting to buy a decent CC tuba for my Grad School audition. My budget is low. ($2000-$2500) I am going to upgrade as soon as I get into grad school but I need something to get started. Any suggestions?

Neither is mine, but it wouldn't bother me if they were.

'TheHatTuba' has a B&S Sonora stencil horn in reasonable condition for $1500. Look in hte for sale section. He posted pictures so you can see it. (Link referenced above)

Is your graduate school audition coming up this winter?
If so, I would recommend auditioning what you are playing on now, even if it is a BBb. I know a few MM students in performance who play BBb tubas who are doing fine. If you just want to switch to CC prior to auditions to be on a CC, it will take you a while to learn the fingerings, break in the horn, and learn its tendencies. If it is a year from now, then I second the Chinese clones.
Learning the tendencies of a horn and being comfortable playing it can often take over a month!
If you are going to upgrade anyways (if you begin next year), then I would suggest waiting, then you can work with your professor to get a horn that fits you the best, without losing money in the process.
+1

If you are going to buy the Miraclone, I suggest that you buy it from Mack Brass. The customer service is to notch. 'Just my experience'

If I was going to buy one of these, I would talk to Matt Walters. I now have played several of these and the one Matt set up was a mile better. I asked about it, and he has a whole procedure he goes through to optimize them. Seems like it works wonders.
I was at Dillon's not too long ago and tried one of these and was very impressed. Whatever The Tuba Whisperer is doing, it's working.

For the $$ you have to spend, I'd take a look at that Miraphone that Quinn the Eskimo has up on eBay.
The seller has a pretty good reputation. I have purchased from him in the past and have not been disappointed. You won't get any bargains but you won't get cheated either. His descriptions are generally accurate. I do wish though, that he would give more than three days to return, but he may work with you on that. Also, expect to have some work done on the horn once you get it.
