If any of you have spent some time comparing these 2 tubas, I'd love to hear your opinions. I own a Petrushka and I like it, but when I bought it I knew the 2250 was on the horizon. Eventually I will go to BBC and compare them myself, but for now I'd just like to hear what you guys have to say.

I prefered the 2250 by around 20%.both were great tubas.if I owned the Mira, there wasn't enough difference to go through the hassle/expense of switching.both are great...

Hi-
If you are comparing a Petrushka and a MW 2250, you DEFINITELY will also want to try and compare the new Gemeinhardt F tuba with those other two--I think you will be very pleasantly surprised.....

Good luck!

Stefan, you are stoll usin the Petrushka as your only tuba, right? I wonder if that factors into peoples opinions at all here? BTW, how is that going?

Don't forget about the Kanstul grand f, even though I've never played it.

The MW 2250 plays better than the Kanstul and Gemeinhardt. If you're on a budget, buy the G. The Petroushka plays well too, but I prefer the 2250.

Stefan, I think that since you are a wealthy school teacher, you should buy a 2250, bring it home, compare it to your Petrushka, and donate the one that you don't want to a fellow professional who doesn't own an F tuba. He would appreciate it.

Yeah, the Petrushka is currently my only tuba. Gemeinhardt, eh? Where can I go to try one - a flute symposium :). It will be hard to get the flute thing out of my head, but I am certainly willing to try one. Mojo - that sounds like a good idea. I will certainly do that when I win the lottery. Thanks for the responses folks.

Bort -

Yeah, I really think I made the right decision moving exclusively to F. I just don't play professionally enough to need 2 tubas and I am having much more fun working on solos rather than excerpts of pieces I will likely never play. Sure, there are times where a big tuba is the sound needed for a situation, but oh well. It's more important that I enjoy being a musician again. That wasn't happening with the CC.

Hi
I own a MW2250 and I love it ....
I use it for everything, I chose this tube due to its ability to adapt!
It is a complete instrument, used for everything, ensemble, quintet, brass band, orchestra, solo ... Finally, it is complete!
I've had other tubes that were wonderful for one thing or another thing, but for everything it alone ...
:D
