Repair Persons in N.E. Ohio Area

Post by Tubaryan12 »

Does anyone know a reputable repairperson in the Cleveland, OH area? I am willing to drive up to 1 hour for a good person.

Thanks for any help you can give.

I would take it to the Brass Bow in Chicago. Probably a little longer than an hour drive, but deffinatly worth it. Wayne does some great work.

Dan is over 7 hr away and I believe Joe is even further. If I was looking for something like a full overhaul I would make the drive or ship it. However, Im looking for someone that can make the not so simple repair that it wont require a vacation day or being without the horn for a week to complete (its my only horn right now).

This is the Napbirt site...you can search for a repair person in your area.

I searched OH and got 18 results...take a look and see if any of them are close to your location.

I believe that Borodi music is in the Cleveland area and does quite a bit of tuba repair. I have no personal experience with them though.

Kevin Powers

You want THE best in tuba repair? You should go see Kevin Powers! And lucky for you, he isn't 7 hours away. He is in Michigan just north of Toledo. This guy can make amazing working tuba parts from anything. Back before all rotary was uniball, he came up with his own uniball for replacement on older rotary horns that worked like a gem. People such as Fritz Kaenzig, Gene Pokorny, Mike Sanders, and Norm Pearson have Kevin Powers work on their instruments.

Very true Tony, and I will keep him in mind. However, I need something more local for when I just need a dent rolled out, a screw replaced.....simple stuff that I dont want to drive 3 hrs to have done. Borodi Music may more fit the bill. Thanks once again to all that have taken the time to reply.

How about Chuck Ward. He lives at:

12094 Clark Road Chardon,
OH 44107

He should be just fine, and just around the corner!
