Greetings all!

I have one and frankly I feel like it's the one. It's not quite as nimble as the PT10 I traded to get it, but it can play those licks...I just don't know the horn like I should yet. In fact, I really think the only limitations it has are more my own fault.

Anyway, my question to you fine Tubenetizens is this: what are the things I have no business trying to do on this instrument? Am I deluding myself, trying to work out the faster-higher and the lower-louder, or is this really a horn that can be the featured soloist on one piece and the foundation of a grandiose full-band chorale the next...and I just need to develop the skill to do it?

I like mine a lot. It's the only horn I haven't ever considered selling. I don't think it will do exactly what you asked, but in my humble estimation, it is the only horn I know of that could come close.

For my money it's one of the most versatile tubas that ever rolled off the assembly line. It may not be the newest or sexiest axe out there but it'll always get the job done. YMMV

It is an established horn endorsed by many "big fish" over many years.

Personally, I was always an Eb Bb tuba guy. One day at a trade stand there was one sitting there. I decided to see what all the hoopla was about this tuba. (not having played a horn for 2-3 months at this point in time) I tootled on it. Across 4 octaves, varying dynamics and Blue Bells of Scotland, after 5 minutes i told myself self that i'm going to buy one. It was just that good. I did buy one about 18 months later.

Consistent in every register, great low register and very forgiving for the under-practiced player. Eb vs F fingerings? Was never an issue, just got used to the new fingerings while loving the sound and consistency!

Until I received a Miraphone 1291 Bb tuba a few months ago, I did everything on this tuba, including Mahler 5, Meistersinger etc. No complaints from colleagues or MDs.

While there is no such thing as a perfect single tuba for everything, this one is more than versatile as an all round "only" tuba to have.
