I remember when the 'auditions' thread contained mostly job postings, and not recruitment postings for college studios. Times have changed I guess...

Personally, I understand when Graduate Assistants are posted and and when sizable scholarships are offered, but the rest just baffles me.


(It makes me wonder if some of the comments posted by certain board members about how universities are run like businesses and profs try to lure students in, are not justified)

I can see where you're coming from, however, one can audition for college meaning (hopefully) 4 years of money toward tuition.

I know the only reason I posted there is because there ACTUALLY is money available for incoming freshmen students who happen to play tuba or euphonium and want to get a college degree. As a private studio teacher, I always encouraged my students to pursue some form of music participation scholarship in addition to any money they might receive based on academic qualifications since school isn't cheap. I never cared if they were majoring in music or not, but why not try to save mom and dad some money? I know I'm not getting rich doing it. Out of the small amount of students I do have (6), only 2 are majors. Didn't bother mentioning the other school I teach at either since they have a lot less money to offer.
