Hey, Joe! Cheap braces are nothing new to the imports. Yamaha has been doing it for years! I don't recall ever seeing a 'high school beater) YBB-201 or 321 without AT LEAST one busted brace!

Could be worse. The Besson lines avoided braces in crucial places. Their solution? 1 gram drops of solder at points in the instrument wrap holding them together.
I have never picked up a used 983 that didn't have the solder drop that was broken after that first bugle loop on the backside.

Hi-
Having owned several Asian low brass, one thing that I see on SOME of the makers horns that needs to be improved are the threads on the valve caps and on the casings of piston valve instruments. The threads need to be coarser/heavier, etc. For example, I have seen two euphoniums that even though new, the valve caps 'Clanked' because of bad threads.
Also, it is nice to have a hard case included with the instrument, but they need to be useable to keep the horn safe from bumps. A flight case would be nice, but not needed--a better built stronger ABS case would be nice though.....
My 2 cents......just some observations
