Hirsbrunner BBb 3 to 5 valve conversion project (photo's)

Post by Wilco »

Hi,

I'd like to share some pictures of my new horn. This horn started as a 3 valve compensating BBb. The work done:
- new leadpipe
- new 5 valve block
- new silver plate job

All the work was done by Brassatelier de Wilde, The Netherlands.

I don't know Hirsbrunner very well - would this compare to any actual factory HB's? How does it play especially compared to how it was as a three banger comp.

Hi, it plays much better than the original. I guess it plays about the same as a factory horn (I played on a piston HB BBb once). It plays much more even than the compensator. A plus is that the funky response on low Ab, A and G is gone (probably the leadpipe).

Hello,

i'm very glad with the positive comments on this revision.
On facebook you can find more pictures of this job, http://www.facebook.com/#!/media/set/?s ... 613&type=3" target="_blank.
The old valve set from the tuba of Wilco is not for sale, but we did this revision once more and i have
1 complete set, with tubing etc. 1 set with only the cilinderblock.
I will do a other make over with the same modl tuba, and also a older type HBS Comet also 3 valve compensator.
For those who have interest in a valve set or tuba, you can contact us at.
