Alabama Symphony Excerpts question

Almost all of the excerpts in the packet are taken from the book "Orchester Probespiel", published by Peeters. As far as the octave of the R and J excerpt, play the upper octave if you can sound good on it, and if not, sound great on the lower octave. The Symphonie Fantastique excerpt should say 164, according to the book. Play it at the tempo you feel is appropriate...the committee there won't be splitting hairs over metronome markings and slur marks...they will pick the player that plays the most in tune, in time, and with the best sound.
